Freeing disk space in your cPanel hosted email account

The following guide will list the steps you can take to clear out older emails from email accounts.

This is useful if you are running out of disk space on your email account or on your website hosting account overall and are looking to clear out space.

Method:

  1.  Log in to your cPanel account.
  2. Under the "Email" header, select "Email Accounts".

  3. Locate the email account you wish to change the password for and select the "Manage" button to the right of the list.

  4. To the right of the page, under "I want to...", select "Free up Email Storage".

  5. This will open the "Email Disk Usage" interface. From here, you can see how much space each of the folders in your mailbox are taking up. You can clear out space in the mailboxes by selecting "Manage" under the "Actions" column to the right.

  6. Select what you would like to delete from the dropdown menu under "Message to delete". Once you have made your selection, click "Delete Permanently".

Please Note: You can clear out more specific mail by using Dovecot's Search Query language.
