Overview:
If you have just purchased a cPanel service and want to set up a new email address, you will need to configure the SPF records on your domain. An SPF record is used to prevent email spoofing and improve email deliverability. It specifies which mail servers are authorised to send emails on behalf of your domain.
Prerequisites:
Validate your IP address via the Micron21 WebAuth. For more information, you can review our WebAuth article here.
If your domain is using cPanel DNS:
If your domain is using cPanel's DNS and you've configured your NameServer records to point to cPanel, you can follow the steps below to confirm the SPF record is configured correctly. By default, your SPF should be configured for you in cPanel.
Log in to your cPanel account.
Navigate to the "Email Deliverability" tool in the "Email" category.
Click "Manage" on the domain name you'd like to check. If you allow the page to load fully you should see if cPanel detects any issues.
Scroll down to the DNS record(s) you want to add.
As long as your domain is configured to use cPanel as its DNS manager, you can simply click "Install The Suggested Record" and cPanel will take care of the configuration.
Do keep in mind that changes to DNS can take between 2-8 hours to action, due to propagation. After this time, your domains will resolve using the new details.
If your domain is not using cPanel DNS:
Log into your cPanel account.
Navigate to the "Email Deliverability" tool in the "Email" category.
Click "Manage" on the domain name you'd like to check. If you allow the page to load fully, you should see if cPanel detects any issues.
Scroll down to the DNS record(s) you want to add.
Copy the the text in the “Name” and "Value" sections and save the information in a secure location or note.
Log into your Domain or DNS host (where you manage your DNS records).
Create the new record(s) using the information you saved earlier.
If you don't know how to manage DNS records, you will need to contact your DNS provider’s support team for more details.
